AI Billionaires Drop $300K to Buy MI-11 for Career Politician Jeremy Moss
Oakland County, Michigan — With days until the August 4 Democratic primary in Michigan's 11th Congressional District, an out-of-state Silicon Valley super PAC has dropped $300,000 into the race to elect Jeremy Moss in the final stretch.
The super PAC, Think Big, is the Democratic arm of Leading the Future, a political operation the AI industry built to elect candidates who will let it write its own rules. As POLITICO reported this week, the group launched with more than $100 million from some of Silicon Valley's wealthiest men, including $25 million checks from Trump supporter Marc Andreessen of the venture firm Andreessen Horowitz and Greg Brockman, the president of OpenAI. Andreessen Horowitz is now the single biggest known donor in the entire midterm election.
The tech industry is not spending $300,000 on Jeremy Moss by accident. It is spending it because of his record of obedience. In the state legislature, Moss voted to hand data-center developers massive tax breaks for the sprawling AI facilities that strain Michigan's power grid, drive up utility bills for families, and threaten the Great Lakes. He is exactly the kind of politician this industry wants in Washington: one who has already proven he will vote their way.
The money makes the pattern impossible to miss. Greg and Anna Brockman gave $25 million in 2024 to MAGA Inc., Donald Trump's super PAC, so the outside money now spending to elect a Democrat in MI-11 traces directly back to one of Trump's biggest donors.
"Silicon Valley billionaires who write giant checks for Donald Trump are spending $300,000 to buy this seat for Jeremy Moss, and it is not hard to see why," said Don Ufford. "Moss already voted to give these companies tax breaks to build data centers that raise your electric bill and drain our water, and he sided with Republicans against a minimum wage increase for working people. I'm a car guy, not a career politician, and I can't be bought. Not by AIPAC, not by the corporate PACs, and not by a room of AI billionaires who fund Trump one year and Jeremy Moss the next. I will not take checks from the same people who are working to eliminate jobs for the middle class. If the billionaires want to spend against me because of that, then bring it on."
Ufford has refused corporate PAC, utility PAC, and AIPAC money from the start. He supports responsible AI regulation, protecting Michigan ratepayers and the Great Lakes from unchecked data-center development, and raising wages for working families. He is the only major candidate in this race who owes nothing to the interests now spending to win it.
"Follow the money, and it is the same story every time," said Campaign Manager Mark Goldenberg. "Corporate PACs, AIPAC, and now $300,000 from AI billionaires who bankroll Donald Trump, all lining up behind Jeremy Moss. They are spending against Don Ufford because he is the one candidate they cannot own. On August 4, Oakland County voters get to decide whether this seat is for sale."
