Ufford will refuse Corporate PAC money, Ban Congressional Stock Trading, and Fight to Get Dark Money Out of Politics
Oakland County, Michigan — Today, Don Ufford, former Head of Global Vehicle Engineering at Ford and a political outsider in the race for Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, announced that his campaign will refuse Corporate PAC money, fight to ban Congressional stock trading, and fight to crack down on dark money in our elections. That commitment is part of the End Citizens United Unrig Washington pledge. Ufford is the first candidate in the race who has taken that pledge, and in Q3, was the leading fundraiser in the race without accepting corporate PAC money.
“I chose to run for Congress right now because I’m tired of career politicians who chase checks and corporate kickbacks instead of serving everyday people. When I worked at Ford, we had to bring people together to solve problems and build things. Then, I went to serve our community at the U.S. Department of Commerce and in the Made in America Office, working to bring manufacturing back home to Michigan,” Ufford said. “The fact that leaders in Congress can trade individual stocks, take campaign contributions from corporations, and receive unlimited funds from undisclosed donors is just wrong. We need our leaders to focus on the best interests of their constituents, not their own pocket books.”
As a signer on End Citizens United’s Unrig Washington pledge, Ufford commits to:
Refuse Corporate PAC Money, ensuring his campaign is powered by people, not political insiders.
Ban Stock Trading by Members of Congress.
Crack down on Dark Money in our elections.
Ufford continued, “I’m also urging every candidate in this race to reject Dark Money spent on their behalf. Voters should know who is funding the candidates on the ballot. I’m running to create a stronger Michigan by building things here, protecting our healthcare, lowering costs, and defending our freedoms. The only way we can do that is to run a grassroots campaign where we listen to the everyday people who make Oakland County special.”
Mark Goldenberg, Campaign Manager for Don Ufford for Congress, added: “Don’s never been part of the political game, and that’s exactly what we need if we’re going to rebuild the Democratic Party. This campaign is about proving you can run, win, and serve without selling out.”
