Ford Engineer, Business Leader, and Political Outsider Don Ufford Raises $220,000 on Day One of Campaign — the Most Any Candidate in Michigan’s 11th District Has Raised on Day One So Far This Cycle

Bloomfield, Michigan — Don Ufford, a former Ford engineer and political outsider, raised $220,000 on the first day of his campaign for Congress in Michigan’s 11th District — the most any candidate in the race has raised on day one so far this cycle. The record-setting haul signals strong momentum in one of the most competitive House primaries in the country.

Ufford launched his campaign with a message centered on making life more affordable, protecting healthcare access, bringing back American manufacturing, and restoring integrity in Washington. The outpouring of early support came from individual donors in Michigan and across the country who believe in his mission and leadership.

“I’m an engineer, a builder, a business leader, and a dad,” said Ufford. “I’ve had the chance to live out the American Dream here in Michigan. The fact that so many people stepped up on day one means the world to me, because it shows the momentum behind this campaign and gives us the resources to connect with everyday voters across Oakland County. We’re building a campaign that reflects the best of what Michigan can be when we invest in our people, our economy, and our future.”

Campaign Manager Mark Goldenberg emphasized that the campaign’s early success is about more than just the fundraising numbers.

“This campaign is about organizing person by person,” said Goldenberg. “Don has the ability to communicate directly with voters, earn their trust, and build support neighborhood by neighborhood. This record-breaking first day shows we have the energy, the organization, and the message to win.”

Ufford’s strong launch is already drawing attention from elected officials, Michigan Democratic leaders, and national grassroots groups. His real-world experience, pragmatic leadership, and broad appeal — combined with the campaign’s powerful early infrastructure — could shift the dynamics of the race.
