Oakland County, Michigan — Today, Don Ufford, former head of Global Vehicle Engineering at Ford and a first-time candidate, announced that his campaign raised $350,000 in just 34 days in the race. This total demonstrates the excitement his campaign is generating across Oakland County.

“This campaign is about building things here in Michigan, lowering costs for Michiganders, protecting our fundamental freedoms, and expanding access to quality healthcare,” said Ufford. “I’m not a politician. I’m an engineer, a builder, and a dad, and I believe we need more problem-solvers in Congress. The early momentum we’ve built shows that our message is resonating and that we have the resources to win.”

Ufford’s $350,000 raised in one month shows that there’s excitement in the district for real change and a fresh face.

“This early momentum shows that Don’s campaign is built to win,” said Mark Goldenberg, Campaign Manager for Don Ufford for Congress. “These resources will allow us to organize across Oakland County, and allow us to communicate about issues that matter in voters’ everyday lives, including jobs, affordability, and healthcare. Don is a different type of candidate, an outsider who can deliver a credible economic message and build a stronger Democratic Party.”

Ufford laid out his approach to building a stronger Oakland County and a stronger Michigan:

  • Lower Costs for Michiganders: Take on rising costs by making everyday essentials, housing, and energy more affordable.

  • Build Things Here in Michigan: Strengthen manufacturing, expand apprenticeships and job training, protect public education, and make sure Michigan workers benefit from fair trade and strong supply chains.

  • Protect and Expand Healthcare Access: Defend the Affordable Care Act, lower prescription drug prices, and fight to ensure every Michigander can see a doctor when they need one.

  • Defend Our Rights: Stand up for reproductive freedom, voting rights, and the core freedoms that make our democracy strong.

Ufford concluded, "I'm in this race to make life better for everyday Michiganders. We have the momentum to win, and I’m ready to keep building it every day. Let’s get to work.”
