Political Outsider Don Ufford Earns The Detroit News Endorsement in MI-11
Back-To-Back Endorsements from the Detroit News and Arab American PAC show Ufford is picking up momentum with just 34 days to go.
Oakland County, Michigan — The Detroit News editorial board has endorsed Don Ufford in the Democratic primary for Michigan's 11th Congressional District, pointing to Ufford's background leading vehicle engineering at Ford Motor Company.
The endorsement comes on the heels of Ufford earning the support of Arab American PAC, whose president and Arab American News publisher Osama Siblani called Ufford "the progressive force we need in Washington" and said voters "can count on him to stand up against Trump's disastrous war in Iran and be an independent voice for us, free of dark money influence from AIPAC and Corporate PACs."
Together, the two endorsements underscore a growing wave of support for Ufford's outsider campaign. He is the only major candidate in the race who has refused Corporate PAC, Utility PAC and AIPAC money. He was also the first candidate in the race to publicly oppose Trump's war in Iran.
"People are tired of career politicians who answer to corporate PACs and special interest instead of their own families and neighbors. I'm running to change that, bring down costs, and fight for Michiganders,” said Don Ufford.
Ufford's campaign said the back-to-back endorsements reflect a broader shift happening in Democratic primaries across the country this cycle, where voters are rewarding candidates willing to challenge entrenched political and financial power structures over establishment-backed insiders.
"In Michigan and the country, voters are sending the same message this year: they want leaders who will have their backs, not the backs of billionaires and corporate special interests," said Ufford for Michigan Campaign Manager Mark Goldenberg. "Don Ufford has the momentum in this race heading into the final 30 days of the campaign."
