The Closing Contrast: Don Ufford Is a Car Guy Who Will Fight for Us.
Oakland County, Michigan — Don Ufford is a car guy who knows how to fight for us. He grew up on a family farm, was the first in his family to graduate college, and spent more than 30 years at Ford, where he rose to lead global vehicle engineering and helped redesign the Mustang and F-150. Don took that real-world experience into the federal government, working at the Department of Commerce on the CHIPS and Science Act and in the Biden White House, where he worked on the electric vehicle transition. Don is an engineer, a builder, and a dad, not a career politician, and he is running to fight for fairness for our families in Oakland County.
As voters head into the final weekend before the August 4 Democratic primary in Michigan's 11th District, the choice between Ufford and Jeremy Moss comes down to one question: who does each candidate answer to?
Jeremy Moss takes money from all of the same people raising our costs out of control. Over his career in the state legislature, Moss took $478,000, from corporate and special-interest PACs. In his Congressional race, he’s taken over $100K from major AIPAC donors and AIPAC-linked organizations. Don Ufford refuses every dollar of it. That is the difference in this race, and it shows up on issue after issue.
Our Electric Bills and Stopping Data Centers. Moss has taken $24,500 from DTE and Consumers Energy PACs, and while he was in office DTE raised electricity rates nearly 30%. At the same time, Moss voted for special tax breaks for data centers that drive up our electric rates, and he took another $6,700 from data-center lobbyists, including a $250 check to his PAC just two days before the vote. Now a super PAC funded by AI billionaires, including a top Trump donor, is spending $295,000 to send Moss to Congress. Ufford refuses all utility PAC money and will fight to lower energy costs, not protect the utilities raising them.
Our Wages. Moss sided with Republicans to gut the minimum wage increase Michiganders voted for, after taking $10,000 from the restaurant industry. Ufford will fight to raise the minimum wage.
Our Healthcare. Moss has taken $52,000 from health insurers and specialty healthcare PACs that drive up the cost of care, including $22,000 from insurance-company PACs like Blue Cross Blue Shield. Consequently, Moss refuses to come out in favor of Medicare for All. Ufford refuses insurance-industry PAC money and is running to protect coverage, bring down the cost of care and prescriptions, and fight for Medicare for All.
Trump's war in Iran. Moss supported Trump's 2025 strikes on Iran, the escalation that helped lead to today's forever war, and has taken more than $100,000 tied to AIPAC's donor network, including $55,000 from the Better Blue Fund and $49,250 from major AIPAC donors. Ufford was the first candidate in the race to oppose the war, refuses every dollar from AIPAC, and speaks as the father of a son serving in the U.S. Army.
"Look at who funds Jeremy Moss, and you understand why your costs keep going up," said Don Ufford. "The utilities raising your rates, the tech billionaires who want our water and our tax dollars, the insurance companies, the corporate PACs, and AIPAC - they all write him checks, because they know he will answer to them. I'm a car guy, not a career politician. I don't take a dime from any of them, and I know how to fight for the people of Oakland County. That's exactly what I'll do in Washington."

Ufford is asking voters across the district to make their voices heard by August 4.

Don Ufford is a former Ford engineer and business leader who lives in Bloomfield Township. He rose through the ranks at Ford Motor Company to become Director of Global Vehicle Engineering, where he helped lead development of the Ford Escape and new models of the Mustang and F-150.
